Trish Barsby

Founder/Director of Beach Wave Volleyball

Trish Barsby is the founder and Program Director of Beach Wave Volleyball and has been involved in the sport for over 10 years. What started as a passion for volleyball has grown into a community focused program that has introduced hundreds of athletes to the game through youth programs, camps, leagues, tournaments, and competitive development opportunities.

Trish has been coaching youth volleyball for the past three years, working with athletes of all skill levels, from those picking up a volleyball for the first time to competitive club players. In addition to leading Beach Wave, she also coaches with Smash Raiders Volleyball Club, where she enjoys helping athletes continue their growth both on and off the court.

As an NCCP Trained Development Coach, NCCP Trained Community Coach, and Safe Sport Trained coach, Trish believes the best coaching goes beyond teaching volleyball skills. Her goal is to create a positive, supportive, and challenging environment where athletes build confidence, develop resilience, and learn the importance of effort, attitude, and being a great teammate.

One of Trish's favourite things about beach volleyball is that every athlete is involved in every rally. She loves how the game encourages communication, problem-solving, and all-around skill development while giving athletes the chance to enjoy being active outdoors during the summer.

When she's not coaching, Trish enjoys spending time with her family, travelling, reading, and relaxing at the cottage. She never imagined that one small volleyball program would grow into the Beach Wave community it is today, and she's grateful for the opportunity to help athletes discover a love for the sport while creating friendships and memories that last well beyond the season.
